At a ceremonial event today, the management of the Technical University (TU) in Sofia awarded media outlets, journalists, and journalistic teams for their contribution to enhancing the reputation and promoting the activities of the higher education institution.
The ceremony took place in the "Tsvetan Lazarov" Hall in Block 8 of the TU.
The Technical University (TU) in Sofia is the largest and most prestigious engineering higher education institution not only in the country but also in the region. This was stated by the Rector, Prof. Dr. Georgi Venkov, at today's ceremonial event. We are currently educating 11,000 students and are members of the European Technological University, which is an alliance of nine European universities. They strive to preserve Europe's name in competition with Asian and American universities. The TU in Sofia is also a research university, and we have developments that are covered by the media, noted the Rector.
The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) and journalists from the agency were awarded today by the management of the Technical University (TU) in Sofia for covering the 80th anniversary of the higher education institution in 2024, as well as many significant initiatives of the institution, academic events, scientific conferences, cultural manifestations, social campaigns, and collaborations with other institutions.
BTA received an Honorary Plaque - a sign from the Rector of the Technical University in Sofia, Prof. Dr. Georgi Venkov, who presented it to Evgeniya Drumeva, Deputy General Director of the Bulgarian News Agency. The distinction is for a significant contribution to promoting the activities of the Technical University in Sofia. Thank you very much for this award; it is an exceptional recognition for my colleagues - reporters and editors from the LIK Directorate. With it, we demonstrate the special emphasis that BTA places on news in the fields of education, science, and culture, said Drumeva.
She noted that last June, BTA and the Technical University in Sofia signed a partnership agreement. As a result, last year BTA had 415 publications in Bulgarian related to the Technical University, and this year they have already reached 640. It is also important that an increasing number of foreign students are showing interest in higher education in Bulgaria, and universities are a focus of our English news broadcast. Last year, BTA had 83 publications about the Technical University in English, and this year they have already reached 94, said Evgeniya Drumeva.
Certificates from the management of TU-Sofia were received by Dimitrina Vetova, educational reporter from the LIK Directorate of BTA; Aniya Mihaylova - correspondent from the LIK Directorate of BTA in Plovdiv; and Velina Vasileva - BTA correspondent in Sliven.
Plaques and certificates were also awarded to other media outlets, journalists, and journalistic teams.
The Bulgarian National Television (BNT), National Radio (BNR), Bloomberg TV Bulgaria, Darik Radio, 24 Chasa newspaper, IndustryInfo, Euronews Bulgaria, and All Channels Communication were also awarded with Honorary Plaques.
